A public hearing was organized at Azad Maidan, Mumbai on 29th June 2018 by Ghar Bachao Ghar Banao Andolan (GBGBA) along with the residents of Mahul and other areas to demand better rehabilitation. The majority of the population of Mahul were displaced from Tansa pipeline region and belong to the marginalized sections of the society. The rally was led by renowned activist and Right Livelihood Laureate, Medha Patkar and Dr. Swati Banerjee, Associate Professor & Chairperson, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, Co-ordinator, Right Livelihood College-TISS participated in the public hearing as an external expert along with a team of TISS students.
This report captures the testimonies of the residents of Mahul and their narratives of daily struggles and highlights the key issues of Mahul.
